What does the program cost?
Erasing Diabetes is covered by most insurance plans, so there is no out-of-pocket cost except maybe a co-pay if you have one. If your insurance does not pay for Erasing Diabetes, cost is $135 for each 1-hour private session and/or $70 for each 1/2 hour follow-up session.
What strategies are used to lower blood sugar levels?
The strategies are simple ones. Initially, you'll be asked to measure your blood sugar several times a day to see when it is high and when it is low. If you know when your numbers are high, you can take action. You will learn what to do to bring your numbers down. If your numbers are low, changes to your medications need to be made. Even people with diabetes can have times during the day when their blood sugar numbers are too low.
You will also learn which foods lower blood sugar, and you will be encouraged to eat them. Don't worry, you don't need to cut out all of your favorite party-type foods, just enough of them to bring those numbers into range. Just remember though, that big changes in lifestyle bring about big changes in health.
What about the diabetes medication that I take? Changes to medications may be necessary within a few days of starting the program. Your physician will order all changes to your medication routine. It is probable that you may not need any medication down the road.
