Once again, researchers show that folks who eat a plant-based diet lose more weight and lower their blood sugar numbers more than -- in fact twice as much -- as those who eat the conventional diabetes diet. There are several well-conducted studies (read here, here, and here) that show that eating a diet based on fruits, vegetables, beans, and whole grains can help you to lose weight and to erase diabetes.
Plant foods, as a whole, have the perfect combination of fiber and fat -- lots of fiber and very low in fat . Fiber helps to clean out the inside of the cell where muck has accumulated from a lifetime of eating fatty animal foods. The low-fat part is important to keep adding matches to the fire, i.e. keep the fat out of the cell so it can't interefere with using blood sugar for energy. Plus, fiber fills you up at a low calorie cost.
